Ralph Mendelsohn withdrew from a client’s medical malpractice suit in order to return to his former station as associate judge of the Third Circuit. The suit, alleging negligence against Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton Women’s Health Center, and physician Saji Jacob, rolls on without him in federal court. More than 300 asbestos cases set for trial in Madison County Aug. 10
More than 300 asbestos cases are set for trial next Monday in a Madison County courtroom that seats about 100 spectators. The extraordinary number of cases are set to be presided over by the court's only asbestos judge - Stephen Stobbs, an associate judge.

Social worker alleges reinstatement denied due to illness
A public school social worker is suing her jurisdictional employer alleging disability discrimination, retaliation, and breach of contract in 2014 when she was allegedly denied employment because of illness. Susan Bayer of Belleville filed a lawsuit July 13 in Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Community Unit School District #11, Vickie Breckel, and the Cahokia Unit School District #187 on charges of unlawful employment discrimination in November 2014.
