A St. Clair County man is suing a St. Louis based train operating company, claiming he was injured when he was getting off one of their trains. Alvin Golliday filed a lawsuit May 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, citing negligence. According to the suit, on around Sept. 14 of last year, Golliday was riding on the train when he was told to get off because the train was being taken out of service.

Father sues driver for car collision that led to son's death

A father is suing a driver for allegedly causing a car accident that ultimately led to his son's death. William Kroll, father of Thomas Kroll and the administrator of his estate, filed a lawsuit June 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Claude Burney, citing vehicular negligence. According to the suit, during the late afternoon of June 27, 2013, Thomas Kroll was driving a Saturn Ion northbound on Grangehall in the City of Ruyle when Burney driving a 1997 Chevy S10 in a westerly direction

Student loan lender alleges woman hasn't made payments in two years

A student loan lender claims that a St. Clair County woman hasn't made payments on her student loan debt in over two years. Acapita Education Finance Corp., formerly known as Global Educational Finance Corp., as assignee of Richland State Bank, filed a lawsuit May 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jamie Lynn Aaron, alleging loan default. The suit states that although demand for payment on a promissory note has been made, Aaron hasn't made a payment since May 22, 2013.
