It's a Wonderful County!
Hope born of the realization that despite all the negative publicity, (Madison County) really was a Wonderful County, and the power to change the current course of events comes from within–within him and all who think alike.
Petticoat Junction - 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Eventually, the whole of the media will turn on the Bidens, demanding the purging of their collective sins. This will lead to an unfortunately regrettable resignation by Joe as President, probably by Christmas of next year.
A time to Heel
Uncle Joe Biden, in the first of many broken promises to come, pledged to unify. But unfortunately, actions taken make words spoken ring hollow. Biden tells us he wants to “Heal” the Nation, but as “Me and Joe” take the stage, the painfully obvious truth is it is not to make whole they desire, but domination.
World Trade Center: 9-11 Remembered
Spend some time in church, say a prayer for the more than 3,000 souls lost, for thanksgiving to God for the courage of all who gave so much - the firefighter, the policeman, the ironworker, whose lungs burn with permanent fire from breathing the fumes, for the families left behind, and for the grace of providence to still guide this country.

To Lance Callis: The Parting Glass
Felix Lance Callis was born in Granite City on August 12, 1935, and died in St. Louis on September 25, 2019 at the age of 84. These are the bare biographical facts, but as in most men of greatness, there lies so much more.
Goodbye, Gator...
Our beloved Gator need not only be remembered for how he died, but more for how he lived. He lived his short life full and complete, with no regrets. We need now to carry on, to love more, appreciate more, knowing in the wash of our tears, Nick is still with us in spirit. We need only to seek his presence in our memories, and then carry on. It will be hard, but he is worth it. Be not afraid.

Thanks, Champ, for being an American
On the weekend of July 13-15, my wife Margaret and I traveled South to visit with old friends from Nashville. For most of the past 20-plus years, we have met in Memphis, as a sort of rounding spot for our activities. Say it ain't so Joe
The 1919 World Series was intentionally lost by the Chicago White Sox,fixing the game to appease gamblers and to make a pretty payoff themselves. The scheme unraveled, resulting in criminal prosecutions and a lifetime ban from baseball for the conspirators.
Reason, fear and the politics of hysteria
The election for the U.S. Senate seat in Alabama is now history. Democrat Doug Jones narrowly defeated Republican Roy Moore by a margin of 2 percent, the exact amount of write-in votes filed on behalf of alternative GOP candidates. While the results may have been surprising to some, it certainly is not an omen for the future, but more of aberration.

Thank you for your service
We honor not those who paid the ultimate price, but stop and show gratitude to ALL those who served, living and dead. We acknowledge the truth that “Freedom is not Free,” and pause with gratitude, with respect. While all are worthy of our efforts, this year I propose a long overdue expression for one special group - the Vietnam Veteran.
Last Dance for Tom Petty
Tom Petty dying was like losing a family member, or a very dear, close friend.
E Pluribus Unum
“From many, One.” I wonder, with the lack of civics training in public schools, how many citizens actually can state and more importantly, translate the phrase. I would think the numbers are small, indeed, very small.
For one day, be an American
It would be so pleasant to see instead the veils of partisan rancor drop, if just for one day. It would be so encouraging to see that for just one day, the delusional blame game with the Russians be temporarily set aside. It would be so beneficial to our Nation, that for just one day, these crybabies would no longer be Democrats, no longer be Liberals, but Americans instead.
It's a Wonderful County!
Sitting on the bar stool at the Stagger Inn, he reviewed the past year not with any sense of holiday cheer, but with despair and doom–a clear and unmistakable feeling of foreboding for the future.
You can't handle the truth!
Clinton lost because she was conceited, condescending and crooked. Case closed.
Wimps, whiners and wussies
Imagine if you will, that someone - anyone - was involved in a very bad accident on November 6, two days before the election.
Trump can...must win
It is neither an exaggeration nor an original thought to say the 2016 Presidential election has been one for the books.
