Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler, Republican, announced Friday that he will run for County Board chairman in 2016 on a platform that includes tax cuts. The current occupant of the office is Alan Dunstan, Democrat, who has served as Chairman since 2002.
Belleville's city clerk announces bid for circuit clerk seat
St. Clair County's political landscape became more intriguing this week when Belleville City Clerk Dallas Cook announced he will seek the Republication nomination for Circuit Clerk in next year's general election. Cook will likely face incumbent Kahalah Dixon Clay, Democrat, who has served as Circuit Clerk since 2011. Clay was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Brendan Kelly, who moved up that year to become State's Attorney. She ran unopposed in 2012.
Illinois’s mass exodus: New IRS data shows significance of outmigration
Outmigration is at a record high in Illinois, according to Illinois Policy Institute's (IPI) analysis of IRS data from 2013.The analysis showed that every six and a half minutes, one resident and $50,000 in annual, taxable income moved out of Illinois in 2013. In fact, 81,000 total residents and $4.1 billion in taxable income was lost that year.
