The outgoing elected officials in Madison County were presented with plaques in honor of their years of service to Madison County residents at the Dec. 16 County Board meeting.
Outgoing County Auditor Rick Faccin was the only one presented with a plaque who was present at the meeting.
Faccin, who has been county auditor since December 2000, said he appreciated his 20 years serving the people of Madison County.
He said that he has met and worked with great people regardless of their political party.
“You learn a lot and you learn that just because your idea is different from somebody else’s doesn’t make them wrong and you right or vice versa,” he said. “And it’s been a pleasurable experience for me. Good luck to everybody and may God bless you and I wish everybody well.”
Faccin added that he is confident that David Michael, who was elected to fill the position last month, will do a good job as auditor.
“I feel very comfortable leaving that office in the hands of David Michael, who is also not only a great professional but a good man,” Faccin said.
Outgoing Circuit Clerk Mark von Nida was presented a plaque for serving since May 1997, first as County Clerk and then as Circuit Clerk.
Von Nida, who had called in to the meeting, thanked the county for the recognition.
“I wish you all very much success,” he said.
He added that if the county is successful, then the citizens will have success.
A plaque was also presented to Amy Meyer for her service as county recorder since December 2012. The county recorder position was combined with the County Clerk’s Office beginning Dec. 1. The merger was approved by voters in 2018.
