The NFIB Illinois PAC has endorsed Republicans Ashley Hunsaker in the 113th House District and Kevin Schmidt in the 114th House District.

In press releases issued this week, the NFIB political action committee said that Hunsaker and Schmidt have shown they understand challenges facing Illinois job creators, and that they will work to create, protect and maintain an environment where small businesses can thrive and create jobs.

Hunsaker faces incumbent Rep. Jay Hoffman (D-Belleville) and Schmidt faces incumbent Rep. Latoya Greenwood (D-East St. Louis) in the Nov. 8 election.

"Small business owners across Illinois are experiencing generational inflation, tax and regulatory burdens, and hiring challenges” NFIB State Director Chris Davis stated. “We will aggressively support candidates who best represent our members and will fight for the continued growth and vitality of Illinois small businesses. This election is too important for the business community to stay on the sidelines and accept the status quo and one-size-fits-all policies coming out of Springfield.”

Hunsaker has operated HTS Coatings LLC in Madison, a thermal spray, machining, and grinding company along with her husband, Jason, since 2015.

Schmidt is a board certified chiropractor and the owner of Schmidt Chiropractic with locations in Millstadt and Freeburg.

The NFIB Illinois PAC says its endorsement of Hunsaker and Schmidt is critical to their campaigns as "small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members, and acquaintances to go to the polls."

The PAC’s support of the candidates is based on their "policy positions and record on small business issues."
