Local law firm HelperBroom recently held a luncheon to celebrate its 125th birthday.
The firm traces its roots all the way back to 1894.
Founded by George D. and William G. Burroughs, the firm began as a two-attorney operation in Edwardsville. Today it employs more than 100 lawyers and has six locations across Illinois, Missouri and Indiana.
In its more than a century of existence, the firm has included a number of prominent attorneys who have made impacts both inside and outside the legal profession. Its partners have included a Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, two national presidents of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and former Director of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
While the firm is celebrating the past, it's also looking ahead.
“These have been a great 125 years, and the future is good — because we care. I think George and William would be proud of what they started 125 years ago," said managing partner Troy Bozarth.
