New Athens man sues over pothole trip, fall

BELLEVILLE — A New Athens man is suing the village, alleging he was injured when he tripped and fell over a pothole. 

Gregory Krauss and Judy Krauss filed a complaint on March 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against the Village of New Athens, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on April 7, 2018, Gregory Kraus suffered injuries to his right leg and body when he tripped and fell over a pothole on village property. The suit states that Kraus has sustained severe and constant pain and suffering and his wife has experienced loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs seek more than $50,000 in damages, costs of the suit and all other just relief. They are represented by attorney Derek J. Siegel of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
