A man has filed a lawsuit against service station chain Casey's, alleging he sustained severe injuries after slipping and falling on ice at their Wood River location.

The lawsuit was initially filed in Madison County Circuit Court by plaintiff Monty Aldrich, but has been removed to federal court in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

The incident allegedly occurred on Jan. 18 at a Casey's General Store in Wood River.

The plaintiff claims that the ice accumulation was due to water running from a spigot on the premises, which allegedly created a hazardous condition. He asserts that Casey's failed to maintain safe conditions, warn patrons of potential dangers, or take measures to prevent such accidents.

The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for medical expenses and suffering resulting from the injuries.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Seth Hicks, of St. Louis.
