Mother alleges daughter fell at Dollar General

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A mother is suing Dollar General after her daughter allegedly tripped on a bag of rock salt.

Charlene Woods, as a mother and next friend of Courtney Parker, filed a complaint Dec. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dollar General Corporation, et al, alleging the store operators failed to provide a safe environment for their shoppers.

According to the complaint, Woods and her daughter were shopping at the Dollar General store in Granite City on Dec. 22, 2016, when Parker tripped on a rock salt bag that was stacked on the floor and fell to the ground. The suit states that Parker suffered severe, extensive and permanent injuries to her body.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently permitted stacks of rock salt bags to be left on the walkways.

Woods seeks trial by jury and judgment between $50,000 and $75,000, plus all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Peter S. Blasi of Evans | Blasi in Granite City.
