Motorist seeks more than $50K after collision with USPS employee

BENTON – A Randolph County man is seeking damages after a collision with a postal service employee.

Mark McKinney filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against The United States of America, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 13, 2014, he was operating his vehicle on a roadway on or near Chester when he was struck by a U.S. Postal Service vehicle. He alleges he sustained injuries to his head, neck, back and limbs. 

The plaintiff alleges the government's agent/employee failed to keep proper lookout and improperly moved the vehicle into the plaintiff's lane of travel.

McKinney seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any additional relief that is just and proper. He is represented by Nathaniel O. Brown of Weilmuenster & Keck PC in Belleville.
