WHAT: Oral arguments for two cases, People v. Hoffman and Hulsh v. Hulsh, will be held before the Illinois Supreme Court and an audience of over 900 students and local community members.
A question-and-answer session between students and attorneys will follow the oral arguments. WHEN: 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025 (Media members are asked to arrive by 9 a.m.). The introduction, which includes SIU System President Dan Mahony and SIU Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane, will start at 9:45 a.m.
WHERE: The Student Center Ballrooms at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, located at 1255 Lincoln Dr. Parking is available in Lot 13 directly in front of the Student Center. OTHER HELPFUL INFO: Cameras and recording devices will be permitted in the courtroom. Be aware that reporters, photographers and camera crews will be required to go through security screenings before entering the courtroom. Backpacks, other large items or bags, food and drinks will not be allowed. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the courtroom once oral arguments begin at 10 a.m. The oral arguments will also be streamed to the Student Center Auditorium, where people can come and go.
