Patient alleges dentist improperly installed bridge

Medical malpractice 08

BELLEVILLE — A patient is suing Lincoln Place Dental and a deceased dentist for allegedly improperly installing a bridge, which caused an abscess.

Marsha Holland filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Rebecca Dortch, as independent executor of the estate of Gerald Dortch DMD, and Lincoln Place Dental PC, alleging they breached their duties to exercise the standard of care in treatment.

According to the complaint, Holland alleges that Dortch improperly installed a bridge in the plaintiff's mouth. In January 2015, the dentist replaced the defective bridge, but he died prior to a follow-up check up.

As a result, Holland claims she has suffered mental anguish, pain and suffering and was required to undergo additional medical procedures.

The plaintiff alleges Dortch improperly installed the replacement of her dental bridge that had caused abscess to form above her tooth and negligently left the same untreated for several months.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and any further relief that the court may deem necessary.

She is represented by Lloyd M. Cueto of Law Office of Lloyd M. Cueto in Bellville.
