Customer alleges fingernail injury from manicure

BELLEVILLE – A customer claims she was injured at a nail salon when an employee allegedly dug too deep on the side of her fingernail.

Ruth Brooks filed the suit March 9 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Pro Nails, located at 700 Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights.

On March 28, 2014, the plaintiff visited the defendant for a manicure. The suit alleges the defendant's employee dug too deep on the side of the plaintiff's fingernail, causing her injury.

According to the complaint, the defendant and its employee were negligent when they failed to exercise a reasonable duty of care in performing services, failed to exercise a necessary degree of caution in performance of services to avoid injuries, failed to adequately perform services, failed to warn plaintiff of potential dangers or hazards and failed to use proper safety equipment and procedures.

As a result, the plaintiff sustained injuries to her fingernail, has incurred medical bills and will continue to do so into the future, has suffered pain and will in the future, and has lost an ability to enjoy the ordinary pursuits of life, according to the suit.

The plaintiff seeks an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional minimum and any further relief the court deems proper. She is represented by Lorenzo Hester of The Hester Group LLC in St. Louis.
