A Bethalto woman and her son are suing over the denial of a death benefit payment from an insurance company.
Lacey Heineman and Shane Pride filed the suit on Oct. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against National Union Fire Insurance of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Plaintiff Heineman is acting individually and as administrator of the estate of Jeffrey Pride.
According to the complaint, Jeffrey Pride began working at Kraft Foods Inc. in 1996 and was the insured in an accident insurance policy between Kraft and National Union. The suit says he was current with his premium payments when he was killed in an automobile accident on May 7, 2014.
A claim was made, but on Jan. 21, the defendant denied the claim.
The plaintiffs seek damages of 60 percent of the amount the court or jury finds each party is entitled to recover, or $60,000 and any other equitable relief.
Representing the plaintiffs are Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand, Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson of Alton.
