A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against a St. Clair County man, alleging he threatened to kill her in retaliation for numerous complaints she brought against him.
According to a suit filed Oct. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Taymond Freeman has threatened Stacey Goodlow at her place of employment, where she will no longer go because she fears Freeman will kill her there.
The first of Goodlow's suits was filed after Freeman severely beat her in 2006, the suit claims.
Freeman did not appear in court on the matter and a motion for default judgment was filed against him, the suit states.
The judgment was awarded in favor of Goodlow after Freeman did not show up at the damages hearing, according to the complaint.
"Plaintiff then sought to get the assignment or lien of a judgment Defendant had against the Village of Alorton," the suit states.
Goodlow claims she was awarded the rights to that judgment.
In retaliation for Goodlow's actions, Freeman "has stated to Plainitiff that 'she will be a dead (expletive)' before she collects from her first legal action, and 'you think you'll get my money', but Defendant will 'kill her', and he does not care about police," the suit states.
Freeman attacked Goodlow at the Courthouse when she went to testify against him, according to the complaint.
As a result of Freeman's threats and attacks, Goodlow claims she has suffered great mental distress and physical pain.
In the two-count suit, Goodlow is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000 and punitive damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Chris Kolker of Kolker Law Offices in Belleville will be representing her.
