Madison County's first class action suit against Merck & Co.'s Vioxx, filed by the mother of Edwardsville personal injury attorney Mike Bilbrey, was removed to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

The maker of Metabolife 356, and a retailer who sold the weight loss product, are being sued for more than $450,000 by a Venice woman who claims the pill caused her to suffer severe pain and suffering, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life. The popular weight loss product was banned by the Food and Drug Administration in 2003.
