Republican primary election results for Madison County Board

Several Madison County Board seats were contested in Tuesday’s Republican primary election.

According to the unofficial election results, incumbents Terry Eaker and Jason Palmero won their nominations while incumbents Michael Turner and Ryan Kneedler were unseated by newcomers. 

In District 7, incumbent board member Michael Turner was defeated by newcomer Linda Ogden, former Madison County purchasing director. Turner received 446 votes, or 47 percent, with Ogden receiving 503 votes, or 53 percent.

In District 15, incumbent Terry Eaker defeated South Roxana City Administrator Bob Coles. Eaker received 480 votes, or 72 percent, with Coles receiving 189 votes, or 28 percent.

In District 22, incumbent Ryan Kneedler was defeated by newcomer Linda Wolfe. Kneedler received 404 votes, or 48 percent, with Wolfe receiving 440 votes, or 52 percent.

In District 24, former Edwardsville Township Supervisor Fred Schulte defeated former State Representative Dwight Kay. Schulte received 450 votes, or 53 percent, with Kay receiving 398 votes, or 47 percent. 

In District 26, incumbent Jason Palmero defeated Douglas Matthews. Palermo received 366 votes, or 56 percent, with Matthews receiving 291 votes, or 44 percent. 

All of the candidates who won their primary elections will run unopposed in the general election in November. 

For the remaining County Board seats, incumbent Frank Dickerson of Worden is running unopposed for District 3, incumbent Paul Nicolussi of Collinsville is running unopposed for District 23, and incumbent Chris Guy is running unopposed for District 25. 

Republican Donald P. McMaster of Wood River will challenge Democrat incumbent Robert Pollard of East Alton for District 12 in the general election, and Republican Brynn D. Kincheloe of East Alton will challenge Democrat incumbent Matthew A. King of East Alton for District 13 in the general election.
