Candidates wishing to run for office in 2024 for an established political party must submit petitions by Dec. 4.
The filing period for petitions began on Nov. 27, and it remains open for one week.
Candidates seeking election for a county office or precinct committeeperson should submit petitions in the County Clerk’s office. Anyone seeking congressional, legislative, and judicial offices, or for any office to be elected by the voters of more than one county should file in the principal office of the State Board of Elections.
Dec. 4 is also the last day for candidates to file Statement of Economic Interests as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.
The Primary Election will be held on March 19, 2024. The General Election will follow on Nov. 5, 2024.
