BELLEVILLE – A mother has filed a lawsuit against the Belleville Township High School District, alleging her daughter sustained injuries in a rear-end collision while riding the school bus.

Motorists have filed a negligence lawsuit against an auto dealership after they were allegedly rear-ended by one of the dealership's employees during an auto collision on I-45.

Plaintiffs Monique Williams, as next friend of minor Raven McNamee, filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against the Belleville Township High School District 201 Educational Foundation, LTD., citing allegations of negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 17, 2022, McNamee was a passenger on a school bus being operated by a driver employed by the school district. The plaintiffs claim the driver of the school bus came to a sudden stop, causing the car traveling behind the bus to crash into it. The lawsuit states that during the collision, McNamee suffered serious injuries to her neck and back.

The plaintiffs allege the defendant's driver failed to operate the school bus in a safe manner to protect the safety of its passengers. They claims the defendant is liable for the negligence of its employee.

Williams is seeking damages for McNamee's alleged pain, suffering, emotional pain, mental anguish, disability, and medical costs, plus court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorneys John Hipskind and Brady McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch, LLC in Belleville.
