State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) announced that he will seek re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives in the March 2024 primary election.
Meier is campaigning for House District 109, which includes portions of Bond, Clinton, Madison, St. Clair and Washington Counties.
“The General Assembly led by Chicago Democrats continues to trample upon our conservative values,” Meier stated. “They want to ban our guns, close our coal mines, block real ethics reform, and let criminals out of jail for free. I am running again to try and stop this liberal anti-southern Illinois agenda. I will always fight for our most vulnerable, support pro-jobs and pro-family legislation, protect our right to bear arms, support law enforcement, and support stronger anti-corruption reforms.”
Meier currently serves as the Assistant House Republican Leader for the 103rd General Assembly. He advocates for the region while supporting conservative values in the State Capitol, including co-sponsoring a bill seeking to repeal the SAFE-T Act.
Since he was first elected, Meier has earned the Champion of Free Enterprise award from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Champion of Manufacturing award from the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association for his pro-jobs voting record.
He has also received the Conservative Achievement award for his conservative voting record. He was inducted into the Illinois Jaycee Hall of Fame, received the Play Maker Award, Partner in Advocacy award, the Farm Bureau Activator Friend of Agriculture award and the Dr. W.P. Plassman Award in recognition of his volunteer service for the disabled, which was presented by the Murray Parents Association.
In addition to his work as a state legislator, Meier works as a farmer through his family’s Centennial Farm in Washington County.
