St. Clair County Circuit Judge Andrew Gleeson was selected unanimously to serve again as chief judge for a fourth, two-year term.
Gleeson is entering his 20th year as a judge and was first elected chief judge in November 2016. Gleeson presides as chief judge over a bench made up entirely of Democrats for both the elected circuit judges and appointed associate judges.
“It’s been a privilege, as well as a challenge, to be the chief judge in these most unique of times,” Gleeson stated. “From the advent of new technology, to the pandemic and now the SAFE-T Act. Challenges have been made easier by the quality and efforts of the judges I work with.”
Circuit Judge Chris Kolker applauded Gleeson’s leadership.
“Chief judge Gleeson is a leader in the courthouse,” stated Circuit Judge Chris Kolker. “He has guided our courts through the most difficult times in recent history. We are very fortunate he has agreed to continue serving as our chief.”
Gleeson is also chairman of the Article V Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court and presides over a civil trial docket.
