Republican incumbent Rep. Amy Elik defeated Democrat Joe Silkwood by a margin of 56.6 to 43.4 percent to serve State House District 111.
Elik received 19,823 votes with Silkwood receiving 15,173, according to unofficial totals.
Silkwood responded to the election results in a Facebook post.
"While we did not get the results tonight we would have liked, I am beyond grateful for all of the support I have received from the community during this campaign," Silkwood wrote. "Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help me and Madison County Democrats this election and thank you to everyone who gave me their vote."
Elik is a certified public accountant and forensic auditor. She has campaigned on a platform of fiscal conservatism and ethics reform in state government.
Elik was previously elected to the seat in 2020 with a 10-point win over Democrat Monica Bristow.
Silkwood previously ran for Madison County auditor in 2020 after retiring as mayor in East Alton. He lost by an 11-point margin to Republican David Michael.
