St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert Haida earned another six-year term with 74% voter approval.

The minimum threshhold to be retained is 60% voter approval.

Unoffical vote totals in St. Clair County show Haida, a Democrat, received 59,451 "yes" to 21,267 "no" votes.

Vote totals for East St. Louis, which operates its own elections board, show Haida earned 20,557 yes votes to 710 no votes.

Haida has served as circuit judge since 2010. The last time he was on the ballot six years ago, Haida and two other Democrat circuit judges - Robert LeChien (now deceased) and then chief judge John Baricevic - in effect resigned their positions to run for election as if for the first time.

Running in a contested election requires a more challenging 50% plus one to win the day.

LeChien also won his race in 2016, but Baricevic lost to Republican Ron Duebbert.

Haida served as St. Clair County State's Attorney from 1991 to 2010.
