Edwardsville League of Women Voters to host candidate forums Oct. 3 and 5 at Wildey Theater

The League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area and the NAACP of Edwardsville will host candidate forums at the Wildey Theater next week.  

The events will be open to the public and recorded for later viewing.  

The Monday, Oct. 3 event will begin at 7 p.m. 

Candidates invited to participate in this event are those vying for Madison County Clerk and Recorder, Illinois State Senator 56th District, Illinois Representative in the General Assembly 112th District.  

Candidates for United States Representative in Congress 13th Congressional District and candidates for judicial races have also been invited for this forum. 

The Wednesday, Oct. 5 event begins at 7:30 p.m.  

Candidates invited to participate in this event are those vying for County Board districts and candidates for United States Representative in Congress 15th Congressional District.

Many candidates have accepted the invitation to participate and others are pending.

Moderator Rachel Tompkins will provide an opportunity for all candidates participating to introduce themselves and their platforms. For those races having both candidates present, questions prepared in advance by members of the LWVEA and NAACP will be asked of the candidates.

The League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area is a nonpartisan group encouraging informed and active participation in government. The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
