BELLEVILLE - A St. Clair County woman filed a lawsuit over injuries she allegedly received when the ceiling collapsed in the house she was renting.

Samara Sanders filed the complaint in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bouse Fiudo LLC.

According to the lawsuit, Sanders resided at a rental residence located on West Boulevard in Belleville. On Oct. 25, 2021, she claims she observed the ceiling in her bedroom begin to bow as it rained outside. During repairs, the landlord allegedly installed a two-by-four between the ceiling and floor to prevent the ceiling from falling in. However, Sanders claims she was moving a TV stand from her bedroom on Nov. 11, 2021, when the board propping up the ceiling kicked out toward the plaintiff and struck her in the leg. The incident allegedly caused her to fall and the ceiling to collapse on top of her.

"
