EDWARDSVILLE - A motorist is suing another driver for a allegedly causing a collision in Madison.
Xzavion O'Neal filed a lawsuit on Jan. 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jasmine Ivy, alleging negligence.
According to the lawsuit, O'Neal was operating a motor vehicle traveling northbound on Madison Avenue in Madison on Feb. 2, 2020. Ivy was traveling westbound on 5th Street when she allegedly collided with O'Neal's vehicle.
O'Neal claims Ivy negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to use the highest degree of care to stop, swerve or reduce the speed of her vehicle to avoid a collision, failed to keep a safe distance from O'Neal's vehicle, failed to obey traffic control signs, failed to yield to the right of way and entered an intersection when it was unsafe to do so.
O'Neal was allegedly caused to suffer severe and permanent injuries including to his neck, back and head, incurred costs for medical treatment, suffered economic losses, income losses, non-economic damages as the result of the permanent condition and ongoing limitations, restrictions, swelling, soreness and pain.
O'Neal seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. O'Neal is represented by Lanny Darr of Darr Law Offices in Alton.
