EDWARDSVILLE — A driver claims she suffered injuries in a rear end collision Illinois Route 4 when another driver failed to stop for traffic.

Kallie E. Cox filed a complaint  Nov. 12 in the Madison County Circuit Court against James M. Caine, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Cox was driving a Chevy Spark on Dec. 1, 2019, and was stopped in traffic on Illinois Route 4 in St. Jacob Township. At the same time, Cain was driving a Jeep Cherokee directly behind her. Cox clams that while she waited for the vehicle in front of her to make a left turn, Cain failed to stop and rear ended her Chevy.

Cox claims the collision caused her vehicle to be pushed into the vehicle in front of her, which led to her injuries. She alleges Caine was negligent for speeding and failing to slow down to avoid the collision. She also alleges Caine was using an "electronic communication device" while driving and failed to maintain a proper lookout on the road ahead. Cox claims she suffered serious injuries, required emergency medical treatment and incurred medical bills as a result of the collision.

Cox seeks compensation of more than $50,000, and all other just relief. She is represented by R. Brian Harvey of The Beard Law Firm in Carbondale.
