After a one-week trial, a Greene County, Illinois, jury awarded a plaintiff about 20% of the amount she had been seeking. The case involved a fall and injury in the parking lot of a restaurant. Plaintiff suffered a patellar fracture that required four surgeries, culminating in a total knee replacement. She presented $269,000 in past medical costs and asked the jury for a $1 million award. The jury assessed 40% contributory fault to the plaintiff and awarded her a total of $197,000. The defendant was represented by HeplerBroom attorneys Daniel Lytle and Adam McGonigle.
