Madison County Associate Judge Maureen Schuette was appointed co-chair to the Steering Committee of the Illinois Family Violence Coordinating Council.

Schuette was appointed to the bench in October 2015. She has served as the presiding supervising judge of the Family Division since October 2017. 

Prior to her appointment as an associate judge, Schuette practiced law for more than 25 years. She had her own practice, Schuette Law Office, in Edwardsville for the last 22 years of her time as a practicing lawyer. 


During that time, she was a guardian ad litem and mediator and served as an arbitrator.

Schuette is a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee, a member of the ISBA Family Law Section Council, and a member of the ISBA Bench & Bar Section Council. She is also a member of the Madison County Bar Association and the Tri-City Bar Association. 

Schuette is the co-chair of the Third Judicial Circuit Family Violence Prevention Council, the co-chair of the Court Committee and the co-chair of the PILI Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee. 

Schuette previously co-chaired the Third Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Accountability Court, which was one of the first in Illinois, and the Child Support Accountability Court, which was one of the first in the country.
