BELLEVILLE —A former nursing home resident claims he was sexually assaulted by another resident at Autumn Meadows of Cahokia.

Caselle Moore filed a complaint Feb. 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cahokia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Inc., doing business as Autumn Meadows of Cahokia, alleging violation of the Nursing Home Care Act, negligence and other claims.

According to Moore's complaint, he was admitted to Autumn Meadows of Cahokia on Jan. 3, 2019. He alleges that on March 19, 2019, he was sitting in the common area of the facility when another resident sexually abused him by rubbed his genitals without his consent.

Moore claims he suffered a "marked deterioration" of his physical and mental health as a result of the abuse. He also claims he suffered mental anguish and other damages.

Moore alleges Autumn Meadows failed to protect and provide supervision for him and failed to warn him of the "dangerous propensities and behavioral issues" of the residents or to separate those residents. He also claims the facility failed to implement safety protocols to prevent abuse and failed to have adequate staff in the common area.

Moore seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Robert Marcus of The Gori Law Firm PC in Edwardsville.
