The Board of Commissioners for the St. Louis Regional Airport Authority voted 4-3 to hire Alton attorney David Livingstone as its new counsel.
During the Sept. 17 board meeting, the three final candidates were present to answer questions by the board during an executive session. The final candidates were previously selected from a collection of 13 candidates.
Following the closed session, board members went through a nomination and voting process. Each board member could vote for one candidate. A candidate needed four votes to be selected without going into a second round of voting.
The board is made up of Chairman Wendell Ross and Commissioners Shirley Kleeman, Robert LaMarsh, Larry Franklin, Christopher Herzog, Steve Futrell and Brian Keister.
Ross, Keister, Herzog and Futrell voted for Livingstone. Kleeman, LaMarsh and Franklin voted for Alton attorney Matt Kelly of Schrempf Kelly & Napp LTD.
Livingstone, of Stobbs Sinclair & Livingstone LTD, practices in general law, wills, trusts, probate, local and municipal government representation, fire protection district representation, business planning and formation, nonprofit organizations, real estate transactions, development and zoning.
During a prior meeting on July 16, one of the board members pointed out that they were seeking to employ counsel based on an hourly rate rather than paying a retainer fee each month.
