Woman sues McKendree University over slip, fall

BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing McKendree University, alleging she slipped and fell in one of the school's dormitories.

Lacy Hankins filed a complaint April 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against McKendree University, alleging negligence and liability.

According to the complaint, on May 16, 2017, Hankins was at McKendree's Barnett Hall dormitory located at 531 Stanton St. in Lebanon. Hankins claims she was walking on the stairs between the dorm's second and third floors when she slipped on a substance on the ground. She allegedly fell violently on the stairs and suffered serious injuries, the suit states.

Hankins seeks a trial by jury, a judgment in excess of $50,000, and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Gregory S. Motil and Gregory M. Klote of Halvorsen Klote in St. Louis.
