BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County man is suing a motorist who was allegedly attempting to elude the police when she struck the tow truck the plaintiff was standing on.

Jonathan M. Dove filed a complaint April 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Alexandra Fortado, alleging negligence and reckless driving.

The suit states that on Oct. 3, 2018, Dove was standing atop a tow truck on Harbor Street in Collinsville. The lawsuit alleges Fortardo was driving at a high rate of speed while trying to elude the Collinsville police. Fortardo allegely struck the tow truck that Dove was standing on, causing the plaintiff to fall 6 feet to the pavement.

The plaintiff alleges he sustained injuries to his neck, back, arms and legs, requiring medical expenses and leading to lost wages.

Dove seeks relief of more than $150,000 and costs of suit. He is represented by attorney John J. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
