BELLEVILLE — A Centralia woman is suing IGA, alleging she was caused to slip and fall due to the grocer's negligence.

Sabrena Smith filed a complaint March 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Borowiak Enterprises LLC, Borowiak IGA Foodliner Inc., Borowiak's IGA, IGA, Inc., Trevor Borkowiak, all individually and doing business as Borowiak's IGA, alleging negligence.

The suit states Smith was shopping for groceries at the IGA located on East McCord in Centralia on Oct. 1, 2017. Smith claims she slipped and fell in a puddle of water that was caused by a leaking cooler, which led to the plaintiff undergoing surgery on her right knee.

As a result, she claims she sustained pain, suffering and mental anguish.

The suit alleges the defendants failed to warn of the danger and failed to provide safe premises for the plaintiff to visit.

Smith seeks judgment in excess of $50,000, attorney fees, and costs of court and all other proper relief. She is represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Fald & Glisson in Alton.
