Woman sues Ruler Foods over trip, fall

BELLEVILLE —  A Swansea woman is suing a food store, alleging she was caused to trip and fall over a pallet.

Ida Tucker filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kroger Food Stores, The Kroger Co. and Jayc Food Stores, all doing business as Ruler Foods,, alleging negligence.

The suit states Tucker was at Ruler Foods in Belleville on April 12, 2017. As she was walking through the store, she allegedly tripped and fell over a pallet that was obstructing her path. 

The plaintiff claims she suffered injuries to her head, right knee, left leg and right elbow due to the fall.

The plaintiff alleges Ruler Foods negligently disregarded its duty to provide a safe store for customers and failed to clear the floor of all obstructions..

Tucker seeks compensation in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney John F. Pawloski.
