BELLEVILLE — A customer is suing Wal-Mart, alleging she was injured at a Mount Vernon store due to an uneven portion of pavement.

Judith Hartnell filed a complaint Feb. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc, alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 7, 2018, Hartnell was at the Mount Vernon Wal-Mart when she allegedly tripped and fell on an uneven portion of pavement on the property.

Hartnell claims she sustained injuries to her ankles, legs and back and incurred medical expenses.

The suit alleges Wal-Mart was negligent in failing to repair or warn about the dangerous condition on its property.

Hartnell seeks damages for more than $50,000 but less than $75,000, plus costs of court. She is represented by attorneys Michael P. Glisson and Taylor N. Fehrenz of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
