Madison County resident blames neighbor, water company for fall

EDWARSDVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing a neighbor and water company after she allegedly fell on a landscaping border. 

Mary Slack filed a complaint March 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against John Snyder and Illinois-American Water Co., alleging negligence and failure to take proper care of the property.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 5, 2017, Slack was trying to access the passenger door of a vehicle that was parked lawfully on Holman St. in Alton. The suit states that Slack allegedly fell due to a landscaping border that had been placed next to the street by the defendants. 

The plaintiff claims she sustained injuries, leading to hospital and medical expenses.

Slack seeks more than $50,000 in damages, plus interest, court costs and other just rewards.. She is represented by attorneys Todd W. Sivia and Paul Marks of Sivia Law in Edwardsville and by Reiad Khouri of Khouri Law Firm LLC in St. Louis .
