Suit alleges baby died as a result of negligent care

BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Grace Women's Healthcare for allegedly negligently treating her child, resulting in his death. 

Amy Stehlik, as special administrator of the estate of Baby Boy Stehlick Young, deceased, filed a complaint on Feb. 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Grace Women's Healthcare LLC, et al., alleging they failed to apply the knowledge, skill and care ordinarily used by well-qualified health care providers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Jan. 31, 2017 and Feb. 8, 2017, the defendant provided medical services to Young. The suit states that the defendants negligently failed to address an edema, failed to properly evaluate an abnormal urine culture report and failed to ensure that two calls from the patient were returned. 

As a result, Young died Feb. 9, 2017. 

They plaintiff alleges she has been deprived of the decedent's companionship, love and services. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $50,000, pls costs of this action. She is represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin & Cook LLP in Belleville.
