BENTON — Labor groups are suing Ramsey Properties for allegedly violating a collective bargaining agreement.

Central Laborers' Pension Fund, et al. filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Ramsey Properties Inc. alleging it violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege the defendant failed to make payments to its employees pension and fringe benefits funds, and failed and refused to participate in an audit to ensure that proper contributions were made correctly.

As a result of the defendant's continuing refusal to perform its obligations, the plaintiffs claim they have suffered and will continue to suffer irreparable injuries for unpaid contributions.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek an order requiring the defendant to participate in an audit pursuant to the agreement, and award for attorney's fees, costs and expenses, and all other relief that is legal or equitable. They are represented by Letitia B. Wiggins and Kelly R. Phelps of Jelliffe, Doerge & Phelps in Harrisburg.
