Motorist alleges driver ran red light, caused crash

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist claims she was injured when another driver ran a red light and cased a collision. 

Carrie Townley filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mechanical Repair & Welding Inc. and Michael Orban, alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 15, 2017, she was traveling eastbound on Edwardsville Road at its intersection with IL Rt 111 when Orban ran a red light, entered the intersection and struck her vehicle. 

She sustained injuries to her neck, left hip and right shoulder. 

The plaintiff alleges Orban failed to maintain a careful lookout, failed to yield right of way and failed to obey traffic control device. She also alleges Mechanical Repair & Welding is vicariously liable to Orban's negligent acts and omissions. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an equitable sum of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
