BELLEVILLE — A guest is suing a Belleville homeowner after he allegedly fell down an exterior stairway.

Christopher Hunt filed a complaint on Jan. 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Julie Jackson, formerly known as Julie Reinhardt, alleging she failed to exercise ordinary care to see if her property was reasonably safe.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 19, 2017, he was lawfully on the defendant's property located at 3317 Dovershire in Belleville when he fell down the stairs.

Hunt claims he suffered bodily injuries resulting in disability, disfigurement, medical expenses, loss of income and loss of normal life.

The plaintiff holds Jackson responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate handrails or guardrails on the exterior stairway of her property and failed to inspect and maintain the stairway.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Kevin Boyne of Kevin Boyne PC in Belleville.
