EDWARDSVILLE — A Jersey County woman is suing Alton nightclub operators, alleging a motorcyclist became intoxicated at the nightclub and caused a collision.

Anna Townsend filed a complaint Jan. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Randall Giberson, The Cellar Room Tavern, Inc. and Riverside Saloon, alleging violation of the Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, on May 10, 2018, Townsend was a pedestrian at or near the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Hillside Lane in Jersey County when she was allegedly struck by Giberson's motorcycle.

She claims she sustained injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, lost wages, lost benefits and medical expenses in excess of $50,000.

The plaintiff alleges Giberson, who had become intoxicated while being served alcohol at the Cellar Room Tavern and Riverside Saloon, failed to pay proper attention on the road and carelessly operated his motorcycle too fast for the condition.

Townsend seeks trial by jury ,damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs and all further just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney James R. Cantalin and Lisa Tsacoumangos of Brown & Crouppen in St. Louis.
