Customer alleges injuries from soda machine at Belleville convenience store

BELLEVILLE — A Belleville woman is suing a convenience store operator alleging she was injured when a soda machine lid collapsed. 

Ronda Smith filed a complaint Dec. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Midwest Petroleum Company MPC No. 32, alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, Smith was a patron at the defendant's store in Belleville on Dec.13, 2016. Smith alleges the soda machine lid collapsed onto her while she was using it. 

Smith claims she sustained head injuries and incurred medical bills, pain and suffering, plus damages in excess of $50,000. 

The plaintiff alleges Midwest Petroleum Company negligently permitted a dangerous soda machine to be used in its convenience store.

Smith seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount to fully compensate her damages and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn in Belleville, IL.
