EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist  is suing the drivers of two other vehicles, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Richard Gither filed a complaint Jan. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court against Mr. Bult's Inc., doing business as MBI Trucking, Richard Montgomery and Jennifer L. Journey, alleging they negligently maintained and/or operated their vehicles.

According to the complaint, Gither was traveling on state Route 3 approaching its intersection with Missouri Avenue in Granite City on June 23, 2017. Gither alleges Journey's vehicle collided with MBI Trucking's vehicle, which then struck the plaintiff's vehicle.

He claims he sustained serious injuries, resulting in great pain, mental anguish and loss of earnings, and incurred damages in excess of $50,000.

The plaintiff alleges Montgomery and Journey failed to maintain careful lookout, failed to yield and failed to take evasive actions at the first appearance of danger.

Gither seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs and any appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
