EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing Granite City and a city bus operator for allegedly causing a collision.

Robert Pearman filed a complaint Jan. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court against Granite City Township and Jane Doe, alleging the defendants failed to operate a bus in a reasonably safe manner.

According to the complaint, Pearman was traveling on Nameoki Road near its intersection with East 23rd Street in Granite City on Feb. 21, 2018, when a Granite City bus collided with his vehicle.

Pearman claims he sustained injuries to his neck, back and leg.

The plaintiff alleges Doe negligently operated the bus at an excessive speed and failed to keep the vehicle under proper control.

Pearman seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs and all further appropriate relief. He is represented by attorneys Richard G. Reed and Earl W. Hubbs of Reed & Bruhn PC in Belleville.
