EDWARDSVILLE — A man claims he suffered metallosis following a hip arthroplasty procedure.

Lester Denninger and Naomi Denninger filed a complaint Jan. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dr. Peter J. Anderson and Physicians Services Corporation of Southern Illinois, alleging failure to apply the skill and knowledge ordinarily used by well-qualified health care providers.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 14, 2007, Lester Denninger underwent a total hip arthroplasty performed by the defendants using a Stryker anatomic V40 lfit system with metal on metal components. The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to remove the metal on the metal hip when metallosis was diagnosed in 2016 or 2017.

Lester Denninger claims he endured pain and suffering and has become liable to pay large sums of money for medical care and treatment.

Naomi Denninger alleges she has suffered the loss of consortium due to her husband's injuries.

The Denningers seek trial by jury, damages of not less than $50,000, plus court costs. They are represented by attorney Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin & Cook LLP in Belleville.
