BELLEVILLE — American Family Insurance is suing a driver for allegedly causing a crash that injured the plaintiff's clients.

American Family Mutual Insurance Company, as subrogate for Anthony Anderson and Sharon Morrow, filed a complaint Dec. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stephen Darnell, alleging the driver failed to operate his vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, on March 9, 2017, Anderson and Morrow were involved in a collision near the intersection of NB Belt West and Chaucer Drive in St. Clair County. The suit states that the crash was caused by Darnell's negligent driving.

Anderson and Morrow claim they suffered injuries to their bodies and incurred damages. American Family claims it was obligated to cover all of its insured rights against Darnell in an amount to be determined at trial.

The plaintiff alleges Darnell failed to yield right of way, failed to keep proper lookout and improperly used the driving lanes.

American Family Mutual seeks trial by jury, judgment between $25,000 and $50,000, plus court costs and all other just and proper relief. It is represented by attorney Christopher K. Durso of Evans and Dixon in St. Louis.
