EDWARDSVILLE — An insurance company is suing a motorist, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff's client.

Secura Insurance Mutual Company, as subrogee for Gloria Phillips, filed a complaint Dec. 13 in Madison County Circuit Court against Lapreece M. Nealy, alleging the defendant negligently caused her vehicle to collide with the plaintiff's insured vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 24, 2016, Phillips was injured in a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Adams Parkway and Alby Street in Madison County. The plaintiff alleges Nealy failed to keep careful lookout, violated the electric traffic signal light and entered the intersection against a red light.

The suit states that Phillips sustained injuries and incurred medical expenses and Secura subrogated the rights of its insured against the defendant in the amount of $75,000.

Secura Insurance seeks trial by jury, damages of $75,000, plus court costs. It is represented by attorney Richard A. Mixson of Miller and Steeno PC in St. Louis.
