BELLEVILLE — A Williamson County man claims he slipped and fell on ice at the Fairview Heights White Castle.

Steven Hess filed a complaint Dec. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against White Castle System Inc., doing business as White Castle, alleging failure to provide a reasonably safe environment to its patrons.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 14, 2017, Hess was exiting the White Castle restaurant in Fairview Heights when he slipped and fell on ice. The suit states that Hess sustained severe injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges White Castle System negligently allowed the accumulation of ice in front of its premises and failed to provide adequate warning of the unsafe condition.

Hess seeks trial by jury, judgment exceeding $50,000, court costs and all other proper and just relief. He is represented by attorney Mathew P. Young of Belleville.
